The CD-ROM Edition - Run time: 60-90 minutes

The interactive CD-ROM edition is designed for individual training on a personal computer. A cast of characters (all professional actors), employees of the American Corporation (a fictitious company ) is introduced. A drama centered around various incidents of harassment unfolds in a series of scenes that show the reactions of the harasser, the reactions of the target, and the reactions of co-workers. After each scene, a voiceover provides background information and asks the user questions about the human, corporate, and legal ramifications of the situation. The employee may choose a yes or no answer. The question is then answered by the voiceover, and the reasons for the correct answer are carefully explained.

This CD-ROM has a number of unique features specifically designed for optimum use:

  • Easy, intuitive navigation by the user.
  • All content in print and voiceover to circumvent language barriers to comprehension. The user may print out all of the written text in the program.
  • Self-pacing, so the user may stop and return later where he or she left off. The user may also easily review the material that he or she has already seen. Because the program is designed to be viewed sequentially, the user may not "fast forward" unless he or she has received a certificate of completion.
  • A glossary of terms used
  • A playbill so that the user may learn more about the cast of characters portrayed
  • Each user has his or her own password. Registration and tracking is done via the user's Internet connection.
  • When the user has finished viewing the program, he or she is awarded a certificate. To obtain the certificate of completion, the user must view the entire program.
  • The program can be customized to include an organization's own sexual harassment policies and complaint procedures.

The State of New Jersey is utilizing a customized version of the ESH cd-rom edition as a preferred method of providing harassment prevention training to State employees, and has purchased over 9,000 individual passwords for this purpose.
